i am sick and tired (layu already, actually) of this melayu debate.

MELAYU root word LAYU KAYU BAKU BEKU

obviously from a purely memetics point of view Raffles invented the
word "MALAYO" (first used in 1812 to accurately describe the set of
ethnicities ranging from acheh, bugis, boyan, jawa and the whole rest
of it in the archipelago which Sukarno hijacked and invented the word
INDONESIA instead in the mid 20th century.

which by the way from a cultural folklore point of view bears many
similarities with Maori and Polynesian languages (congruent roots,
perhaps?)

perhaps we should think out of the box and come out with a better name
~ Bahasa MELAJU instead. LAJU MAJU i think this better already

I'd be proud to be an ORANG MELAJU at least i have a hope of MAJU

much better prospects from a memetics point of view.

if anybody thinks its big time TABOO to mess about with language like
this, doesn't understand the concept of living versus dead language

As a point of departure for discussion I do hallucinate this is a
whole lot of crock as all it'd do is feed the melayu ego anyway. in
the big scheme things many more people speak Bahasa Indonesia (what
200 million at last count?) than the piddling 20 million Bahasa Melayu

and don't give me that shit about Bahasa MALAYSIA because it does NOT
reflect NATIONAL Literature. Every NATIONAL language discussion has
been solely about bahasa melayu and not include cantonese or hokkien
or tamil - the other predominant languages spoken in Malaysia. that's
probably why i find the whole debate a gridlocked tautology

If we really want to MAKE A DIFFERENCE make english and ARABIC
(language of the holy book and all that, if you truly believe it)
AVAILABLE as subjects in ALL schools. I particularly like to see
people emote in arabic as they recite. I really do think if meaning is
added to the syntax the memetic codes will run and love and peace will
reign in the world and bush will have his bush on fire.

the singlemost important reason why the arabic/muslim world is so
effed up is that although you get the resonance frequencies right
(tajuwid and all that), if there is no MEANING added to the syntax the
codes simply WILL NOT RUN. they reciters simply will not be enabled or
empowered as just as well be talking heads or parrots

and please don't make it effing COMPULSORY (favourite word in
Malaysian pedagogy). That puts people off straight away and makes it a
non-starter to begin with. You must always give people a choice; as
CHOICE empowers people as CHOICE provides divergent CONSEQUENCES

makes you wonder if anybody teaches DECISION SCIENCES in Malaysian universities

anyway, imagine a world where people emote arabic as they recite the
quran. don't you think that will make people SURRENDER TO PEACE, SHARE
LOVE & ROCK THE WORLD! ?

hmmmmmmm
something to think about...

don't you think the world needs a another peace revolution and don't
you feel happy to part of it? If yes, say yes, step up, defy the odds
and spread this slogan around the globe:

SURRENDER TO PEACE, SHARE LOVE & ROCK THE WORLD!

PS I purposely engage in provocative language to elicit a response
even if not a rational debate, even polemics will do for starters.
That gives me more ammo to shoot you down with! glee glee. nothing
personal, but i really do think we owe it to ourselves to screw our
head on right, and start progressing from there...
